Greeley Farmers’ Market Opening June 6 with a Few Changes

Greeley officials will open the Greeley Farmers’ Market for the summer season June 6.

The market takes place at the historic Union Pacific Depot, 902 7th Avenue, in downtown Greeley from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. every Saturday through Oct. 31. State public health officials deemed local farmers’ markets an essential business and a fundamental part of Colorado’s food supply chain.

Greeley’s market will open with a different look and feel this summer including safety measures needed to operate in alignment with other open grocery stores. These changes require all vendors to wear face masks and strongly encourage patrons to wear face coverings as well.

Visitors should look for and follow signage indicating the main entrance and exit to create one-way traffic through the market. Officials may limit the number of visitors during peak hours to maintain 6-feet social distancing. Patrons can expect essential food item vendors at the June 6 market with additional vendors joining the market throughout the growing season.

"Keeping fresh, local food accessible is important to our community and our state’s economy,” said Andrea Haring, Greeley’s Farmers’ Market manager. “We look forward to seeing some returning and new vendors. Special safety rules of operation will be followed and we encourage anyone with an underlying health condition not to attend the market.”

To create a safe market experience, officials encourage visitors to follow the below COVID-19 shopping advice:

  1. Wear a mask just like the vendors.
  2. Have an idea/list of what you need.
  3. Clean your hands!
  4. Keep your distance - 6 feet!
  5. Limit what you touch.
  6. Minimize use of cash.
  7. Don’t eat at the market.

Additionally, to support shopping with a purpose and minimize social gathering the market will not include entertainment or kids activities this year.
