The City of Greeley will hold the last Greeley showerhead exchange of the year Saturday, Sept. 19, from 8 a.m. until noon. The event takes place at the Greeley Farmers’ Market at the Union Pacific Depot, 902 7th Ave. 

City of Greeley water customers can exchange their old showerheads for a new high-efficiency, low-water-use model. Residents should bring a Greeley Water bill with their water account number or driver’s license for proof of residency. Property managers or owners of multifamily complexes can also participate in showerhead exchanges; call 970-350-9874 to make arrangements for larger quantities.

The program offers several showerheads for exchange, including handheld models, massage heads and soft spa heads. Residents can choose showerheads in white or chrome finishes to match existing bathroom fixtures. Participants can exchange multiple showerheads if several bathrooms need an upgrade.

Greeley’s Showerhead Program offers showerheads that bear the Environmental Protection Agency WaterSense label and perform as well or better than conventional models. The WaterSense label is an independent process that certifies the showerhead uses at least 20 percent less water than standard showerheads. Most people save about a gallon of water per minute or more with these showerheads. This simple switch can save an average family about 2,700 gallons of water per year and $70 in annual water and energy costs. 

To create a safe experience, city officials encourage Showerhead Exchange participants to follow COVID-19 best practices, wear a mask, clean your hands, remain six feet between parties, and limit what you touch.
