Greeley Stampede ticket holders will receive free admission to Centennial Village Museum from noon-6 p.m. on June 29, 30 and July 4, 6 and 7.
Centennial Village Museum visitors can explore high plains history through more than 35 historical buildings, with costumed interpreters, historical skill demonstrations, heritage farm animals and a museum shop.
Visitors during each of the five Stampede admission days can take guided tours of Centennial Village at noon, 2, 4 and 6 p.m., with different activities and demonstrations planned for each day:
June 29: Try your hand at laundry chores before the days of electricity and washing machines (Hanna Square, 1 p.m.), meet Rattlesnake Kate (3 p.m.) and experience a one-room schoolhouse (Lone Valley Schoolhouse, 5 p.m.).
June 30: Learn about the Ute tribe with hands-on activities (historic Depot, 1 p.m.), meet the Bolin family, Swedish farmers who homesteaded in Weld County in the early 1900s (3 p.m.) and learn to make cornhusk dolls (Hanna Square, 5 p.m.).
July 4: Listen to the reading of the Declaration of Independence (Hanna Square, 1 p.m.), celebrate the Spanish Colony neighborhood’s 100th anniversary (Spanish Colony house, 2 p.m.), learn the art of butter churning (Settlers’ Camp, 4 p.m.) and meet Rattlesnake Kate (6 p.m.).
July 6: Watch blacksmithing demonstrations (Farr Garage, 1 p.m.), try out historical laundry chores (Hanna Square, 3 p.m.) and learn how to make rope (5 p.m.).
July 7: Practice your firefighting skills with classic firefighter games (in front of the Centennial Village fire station, 1 p.m.) celebrate the Spanish Colony neighborhood’s 100th anniversary (Spanish Colony house, 3 p.m.) and meet Rattlesnake Kate (5 p.m.).
The museum is located at 1475 A Street, south of the Greeley Stampede grandstand. For more information, call 970-350-9220 or visit greeleymuseums.com. Regular season hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays from late May through early September. Regular admission prices range from $3-$8.
Visitors to the museum should enter through the Greeley Stampede entrance since there won't be access to the museum via the south parking lot. The museum will be closed Friday, June 28.
