Greeley Suspends Centennial Pool Open Swim

DU7A4353--web

City of Greeley Recreation officials ceased open swim hours at Centennial Pool, 2315 Reservoir Road, until further notice due to staffing shortages.

Centennial Pool will remain open for lap swim and continue to host swim lessons already scheduled to take place there. These modified services at Centennial Pool will remain in place while officials work to train and hire additional lifeguards.

Open swim hours will continue at Discovery Bay Waterpark, 715 E. 24th St., and Greeley Family FunPlex, 1501 65th Ave.

Because Discovery Bay and the Family FunPlex both have the highest number of visitors for open swim, Greeley Recreation Officials decided to adjust staffing to continue open swim hours at those locations. These adjustments allow Greeley Recreation officials to offer community members the best variety of aquatic services.

“We’ve been monitoring the national trend of seasonal staff shortages across the country, and lifeguard shortages have been one of the most prominent,” said Andy McRoberts, City of Greeley Culture, Parks and Recreation Department director. “We’ve already started taking extra efforts to provide additional lifeguard training classes and other steps to build our ranks and ensure we have a robust staff that can help us offer quality, fun, and safe programs and recreation opportunities for the whole community.”

Centennial Pool, 2315 Reservoir Rd., will continue to offer lap swimming for ages 14 and older from 10 a.m. until noon. Officials highly encourage reservations for lap swim due to limited capacity. Reserve a spot online at greeleyrec.com/aquatics-facilities/centennial-pool/
