Greeley Water Asks for Customer Input on Two High Priority Projects
Greeley's Water and Sewer Department is applying for financial aid from two state-funded programs. The funds would support two projects that benefit the city's water and wastewater utility customers.
An informational meeting is set for May 18 at Greeley City Council Chambers, 1001 11th Avenue. Staff will share information with the community and gather public input on why the projects are necessary, possible alternatives, project components, and funding.
- 7-7:30 p.m.—Cured-in-Place Pipelining Project: Greeley’s aging wastewater system is being rehabilitated by inserting sleeves that bond to the pipes’ interior. The process increases the durability of the pipes, helps prevent line breaks, and limits the intrusion of groundwater and roots that could cause backups.
- 8-8:30 p.m. —Lead Service Line Inventory and Replacement: Greeley Water’s top priority is to provide safe drinking water and protect public health. The water leaving Greeley’s treatment facilities is lead-free. However, lead may be present in the plumbing and service lines of older homes. Greeley staff is working with customers to identify lead service lines and replace them for free.
Stick around to ask questions about Greeley’s Lead Protection Program
8:30-9 p.m. —Lead Protection Program Poster Session: Greeley’s water quality professionals will present updates on the city’s Lead Protection Program. Greeley residents can learn how the city identifies and replaces customer-owned lead service lines.
