“Herederos” Presents a New Generation of Mariachi Music at Greeley’s Union Colony Civic Center

350-Herederos

Mariachi Herencia de México along with special guest Lupita Infante collaborate in “Herederos,” a concert celebration of mariachi music at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22 at Greeley’s Union Colony Civic Center, 701 10th Ave.

Both Latin Grammy-nominated performers, Mariachi Herencia de México and Infante represent a new generation of mariachi music and point to a revival of this virtuosic artform.

Mariachi is a festive folk style of music with roots in cities such as Guadalajara, Mexico, and Mexico City.

A Dynamic Mariachi Ensemble

A group of young, Mexican Americans from Chicago, Mariachi Herencia de México produced four highly acclaimed studio albums with chart-topping debuts on both the Billboard and the iTunes Latin album charts.

In 2017, the group scored a Latin Grammy nomination for their debut album, “Nuestra Herencia.” Their 2018 release, “Herencia De La Tierra Mía,” features guest vocals by two superstars of Mexican music, Lila Downs, and veteran mariachi singer, Aida Cuevas. The ensemble recently released their fourth studio album, “Esencia, Vol. 2.”

A Third Generation Performer of a Musical Dynasty

Infante may be the granddaughter of musical icon Pedro Infante, but she earned her talent and career through years of dedication to developing her craft. With a bachelor’s degree in world music from UCLA, Infante finished as a semifinalist in Mexico’s rendition of the talent competition “The Voice,” launching her professional career.

Infante received her first Grammy nomination in 2020 for the album, “La Serenata,” and her first Latin Grammy nomination for the album’s opening track, “Dejaré.” She performed as the concert-opener for ranchera greats, Shaila Dúrcal and Beatriz Adriana, and in 2018, participated in the Mariachi USA festival at the Hollywood Bowl.
