Historic Preservation Program Seeks Public Input for Cranford Neighborhood

240x240-house

City of Greeley Historic Preservation Office staff is looking for stories and information about a portion of the Cranford neighborhood, bordered by 16th Street on the south, 14th Street on the north, 10th Avenue on the east, and 12th Avenue on the west.

In June, the City received a grant from History Colorado, the State of Colorado’s historical society. The Certified Local Government federal pass-through grant allows the City to hire a consultant to conduct a historic resource survey of 72 properties in the area.

Historic resource surveys document the history and architecture of:

  • historic buildings,
  • sites,
  • structures,
  • objects, and districts.

As part of the documentation process, city officials want to hear stories and information about the neighborhood from anyone interested in sharing.

Special Meeting

City officials hired Metcalf Archaeological Consultants, a planning and cultural resource consulting firm, to complete the survey. The firm will provide an overview of the project and request input from the public, interested citizens, and area residents at a meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21st, in City Center South, 1001 11th Ave.

Community members can also visit the SpeakUpGreeley.com webpage to learn more about the project, share stories, photos, and provide information of interest using the questionnaire and stories tabs.

The Historic Preservation Office and Metcalf will host a meeting at the end of the project, likely in mid-late spring 2023, to share findings.
