GREELEY, Colo. — For over a century, the Memorial Day ceremony at Linn Grove Cemetery has been a time to remember and honor those who lost their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Linn Grove Cemetery will host two events in the spirit of commemoration. The second event celebrates the cemetery’s 150th anniversary as a symbol of remembrance and legacy.
The 2024 ceremony starts at 9 a.m., May 27, at Linn Grove Cemetery, 1700 Cedar Avenue. The ceremony features patriotic music, dedications, tributes, honor guard ceremonies, a benediction and a 21-gun salute. Jim Burack, a retired U.S. Marine Corps colonel, will deliver the keynote address. Jim currently serves as deputy director of Colorado's Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Linn Grove Cemetery staff requests the community’s help placing 2,000 American flags on veterans’ graves throughout the cemetery. Volunteer hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 20-25 at Linn Grove Cemetery. Please call 970-350-9386 to coordinate volunteer groups of 20 or more.
Linn Grove Cemetery’s 150th Anniversary
Additionally, the cemetery will host an anniversary celebration on Saturday, June 1, at 10 a.m., with presentations from Daughters of the Revolution, Veterans MIA/KIA, and remarks from Greeley Mayor John Gates. Learn about notable landmarks within the cemetery and some historical figures buried on the grounds.
These events provide an opportunity for the community to come together in remembrance, gratitude and celebration of the nation's heroes and the enduring legacy of the Linn Grove Cemetery.
“For 150 years, Linn Grove has served as a final resting place for veterans and residents of our community. It is one of Colorado's oldest, fully operating, and still expanding cemeteries,” Gates said.
“It is an honor to commemorate this sacred site.”
