Linn Grove Cemetery in Need of Community Support to Honor Veterans and First Responders

The nationwide Wreaths Across America event will recognize local veterans and first responders during an outdoor celebration and the placing of wreaths on veterans’ graves at Linn Grove Cemetery. Officials need help from the local community to ensure this annual recognition celebration is successful.

How to Volunteer
Consider attending one or both of these events at Linn Grove Cemetery, prior registration is not required. Bring as many people, just show up dressed in warm clothing and be sure to wear gloves for inclement weather.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 volunteers needed to place marking flags on each veteran’s and first responder’s graves in preparation for the upcoming ceremony.
  • 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 the celebration to honor veterans begins with a tribute and speech from local officials, followed by the placing of wreaths on gravesites.

Sponsor a Wreath

The fresh evergreen wreath that go upon a veteran’s or first responder’s grave cost $15. Officials hope to have one wreath placed on each of the 1,800 graves at Linn Grove Cemetery.

“There’s much work to be done to ensure each veteran and first responder is honored and remembered this December,” said Chris Ruth, location coordinator with Wreaths Across America. “We count on the community’s support. Volunteering or sponsoring a wreath donation is a wonderful opportunity for service organizations, students and families to give back to the community, and to carry on their mission: Remember our fallen U.S. Veterans. Honor those who serve. Teach your children the value of freedom.”
