Michael McDonald Returns after Nearly a Decade
The Union Colony Civic Center, 701 10th Ave., presents five-time Grammy Award winning vocalist, Michael McDonald on Thursday, April 11 at 7 p.m.
Michael McDonald returns with his newest release of gruff but heartfelt vocals in “Wide Open.” This album has McDonald rediscovering his songwriting voice alongside fiercer and fresher band arrangements, with hits including, “Hail Mary,” “Ain’t No Good” and “Half Truth.” Rolling Stone stated, "McDonald's voice remains exceptional, a throaty bray–unyielding in the middle, shredded around the edges–that's still capable of overpowering even a muscular band."
McDonald has performed with countless acclaimed artists across a number of genres, including Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, and Grizzly Bear, as well as his time as a Doobie Brother. With a career that encompasses five Grammys, numerous chart successes and personal and professional accolades, as well as collaborations with some of the world’s most prominent artists, Michael McDonald remains an enduring force in popular music.
