Rodarte Boxing Match Brings Crowds and Championship for One Club Member
The City of Greeley’s Rodarte
Community Center’s boxing match, Día del Campeón, brought over 500 guests to
watch as local boxers squared off in several weight classes on Sept. 16.
“The event sponsored by the
Danny Juarez Foundation was a huge success,” said Recreation Coordinator
Dominique Padilla.
Local Rodarte Club Winner
Takes Belt
Owen Montoya won a
championship belt in his weight class at the competition. The 9-year-old Jackson
Elementary School student was among seven Rodarte Club boxers who competed.

Staff Background
Head coach Jacob Sanchez and
assistants Enrique Garcia and Eduardo Contreras all have ties to the Rodarte
Boxing Program. Sanchez and Garcia began their experience as young children in the
program. Between them, they have over 28 years of combined experience in
boxing.
Boxing Club Sponsorship
Damian Casares, a
representative from the Danny Juarez Foundation, attended the event. He said he
was honored to be a part of this historic match. He congratulated the boxers on
a great exhibition and took a photograph with coaches and participants. The
Danny Juarez Foundation has been an integral part of support and funding for the
Rodarte Community Center Boxing Club and other youth programs at the facility.
