The History Hour Series Packs a Lot of History Over the Lunch Hour
New Name, Still Free
GREELEY, Colo. — History comes alive with The History Hour series: free, engaging presentations from February through October. Previously known as Greeley’s History Presentations, the series remains the go-to event for compelling stories and rich historical insights that inform and inspire.
Educator and historian Susan Cribelli kicks off the season on Thursday, February 20, with the presentation “O.T. Jackson: The Dearfield Dream.” Learn about O.T. Jackson’s journey from the Jim Crow era to building Dearfield, a thriving Black community established to create economic freedom. Despite early successes, Dearfield eventually succumbed to drought and the Great Depression. Today, its history lives on in the remnants of its buildings and Jackson’s legacy.
The presentation is from noon-1 p.m. in the Community Room of the Greeley History Museum, 714 8th Street.
The History Hour series offers a variety of thought-provoking presentations. Unless otherwise noted, all events begin at noon and are held in the Community Room at the Greeley History Museum.
