Warrior Avs are Back at the Ice Haus hosting Free Try Sled Hockey Event
The Greeley Ice Haus is hosting a free ‘Try Sled Hockey’ event on Saturday, October 19 from noon to 1:45 p.m. This event will be held during the Pacific Sled Hockey League Tournament October 18 through 20. “We’re thrilled to offer another opportunity for the public to try this completely inclusive sport,” said Mark Mann, Ice Haus Recreation Supervisor. “We hosted a similar event last spring and had a great turnout. Seeing the world class athletes from the tournament maneuver on the ice in a sled is both amazing and humbling, but sled hockey is truly for everyone and is an absolute kick to try!”
The Greeley Ice Haus hosted their first sled hockey tournament last spring. Mann stated, “We wanted to expose our community to the sport of sled hockey – and showcase how it makes hockey accessible for everyone. We had great feedback from the community, so we began offering a drop-in sled hockey program on Sunday afternoons from 1:45-2:45 p.m.”
Representatives from each team playing in the tournament will be on the ice for the Try Sled Hockey event on October 19 to assist with the program. The event is free and open to the public. USA Hockey and the Warrior Avs will provide sleds and gear. Participants are encouraged to wear warm athletic gear.
Admission is free to the Pacific Sled Hockey Tournament as well. Come out and watch the teams battle it out on the ice. For more information about the Sled Hockey Tournament, call 719-323-0058 or visit WarriorAvs.org.
