Waterline Replacement Project Impacts 71st Avenue for Several Months
The City of Greeley starts work soon to replace a leaky waterline in use since the 1960s. The waterline runs under 71st Avenue between 20th and 28th Streets. This project helps the city continue providing reliable, high-quality water to customers.
Greeley has over 650 miles of water lines. Many lines are very old, so regular maintenance keeps the system running.
City of Greeley civil engineer Rebecca Andrus said work starts the last week of August and continues through November. The closure of 71st Avenue will be split into three phases to minimize the impact on residents, a nearby church, and contractors working adjacent to the project.
“This new 12-inch waterline protects residents and their property by ensuring firefighters have the water they need in an emergency,” Andrus said. “We know this section of 71st Avenue has had its share of recent projects. The customer experience is essential to us, so we want to share project details and minimize the effect on residents as best we can. We thank those affected for their patience and understanding.”
Drivers should follow detour signs during the project.
