Rankings and Recognitions

We like to recognize all the things that make Greeley a thriving community: student athletic and academic achievements; positive partnerships between businesses and schools; national rankings; and local, state and national awards earned by our non-profit, civic, business and government workers.

These recognitions aren't a pat on the back from locals to locals; rather, they're awards and kudos given from outside the community to those in Greeley who deserve it.

Greeley Aerial Shot UNC AreaGreeley Ranked 8th in the U.S. Most Dynamic Metropolitans
Greeley ranked 8th among 375 U.S. metropolitan areas in a new report published by Heartland Forward. The ranking draws upon both pre-pandemic data and recent job momentum data to assess economic performance.

Greeley Ranked #1 Rent.com “Best Cities for Pets”
Greeley has been ranked #1 on Rent.com’s “Best Cities for Pets” list.  The list analyzed number of pet-friendly apartments, average cost of veterinarian services, and the number of pet-related businesses and parks per capita.

Rocky Mountain Craft Spirits Gold Medals
Syntax Spirits Distillery in Greeley has won two gold medals at the Rocky Mountain Craft Spirits competition for their Wine Barrel Bourbon and Straight Bourbon, and a silver medal for their Wellhead Whisky.

Top Breweries in Colorado
The Colorado Sun has named Wiley Roots Brewing Company one of the top breweries in Colorado. Wiley Roots won the   "Colorado Crowd Favorite," "Colorado Beer of the Year," and "Colorado Brewery to Watch in 2021“ against more than 50 breweries in Colorado.

Brew Talk Radio Awards
Wiley Roots also received the 2020 Best Beer Name award from Brew Talk Radio for their “That John Denver is Really Full of Peanut Butter," a Rocky Road Imperial Stout, and was added to October’s “The Best IPAs of 2020” list for their Blueberry Maple County Fair Cobbler. 

Grammy Award Nominations
Congratulations to University of Northern Colorado School of Music instructors Greg Gisbert and Eric Thorin for being nominated for the 63rd annual Grammy Awards. Thorin plays folk and bluegrass double bass on the Danny Barnes album "Man on Fire." It is selected in the Best Bluegrass Album category. Greg Gisbert playing jazz trumpet appears with the Maria Schneider Orchestra for their album "Data Lords." It is nominated in the Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album category.

Connecting Point: NextGen Solution Provider Leaders
Scott Warner, President & CEO, of Connecting Point in Greeley, has been named one of CRN's 2020 NextGen Solution Provider Leaders. Connecting Point is a second-generation, family-owned and operated IT & Security solutions provider.

National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development's 40-under-40 Award
Congratulations to Eryka Charley, director for Native American Student Services at the University of Northern Colorado. She is part of the 12th class of the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development's 40-under-40.

Colorado Health Care Association: Business Management Professional of the Year
Kenton Manor business office manager, Margie Rice, has been named Business Management Professional of the year by the Colorado Health Care Association.

Double Diamond Takes First Place
Congratulations to the CrossFit athletes out of Double Diamond CrossFit in Greeley for taking first place against 34 other teams at the 24-hour AMRAP Challenge.

University of Northern Colorado Wrestling: 25th in National Coaches Association Poll
Northern Colorado wrestling earned a spot on the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division I poll for the first time in 51 years. The Coaches poll listed UNC at number 25. Go Bears!

Northern Colorado Women’s Basketball: Big Sky Player of the Week
Northern Colorado sophomore forward Alisha Davis received the Big Sky Player of the Week award. Davis now leads the conference in blocks, blocks per game, double-doubles, field goals made, points, free throws made, and rebounds. She also ranks in the nation’s top five for blocks, double-doubles, and rebounds.

Patient-Centered Recognition: Sunrise Community Health
Sunrise Community Health has received the Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance. Sunrise Community health properties include: Monfort Children's Clinic, Sunrise North Range Clinic, and Sunrise Adelante Clinic. The award identifies clinicians and practices that utilize teamwork and technology to deliver coordinated and patient-centered care.

Prairie Heights Middle School: Rise Award
Prairie Heights Middle School is one of only two schools in the nation to receive the Rise Award from Summit Learning. It's a program that has been a part of its successful Innovation School plan. Summit Learning drives student engagement, strong student-teacher connections and mastery-based learning. Prairie Heights and Franklin Middle School are just two of the 400 schools across the nation in this program.

Greeley Central Speech and Debate: 2020 District Leader National Award
Greeley Central English teacher and speech and debate coach, Sarah French, has received the 2020 district leader commendations for the Rocky Mountain North District from the National Speech and Debate Association for excellence. The National Speech and Debate Association is the governing body for all high school speech and debate in the U.S. and also has a reach internationally.
