Linn Grove Cemetery Irrigation Renovation

Linn Grove Cemetery will install a modern automated irrigation system starting Spring 2023 through Spring 2025. The existing irrigation system is nearly 50 years old. Some areas of the cemetery have never had a modern irrigation system, irrigated for years by flood irrigation using a system installed in 1935 by the Works Progress Administration, an agency of the American New Deal.

The renovation is important to enhance the cemetery's overall appearance and sustainability.

What to Expect

City crews will install the irrigation system in two phases. Phase 1 will include all blocks east of the main north-to-south driveway. Phase 2 will include all blocks to the west.

The cemetery staff will make every effort to keep the grounds watered. However, there may be periods of time where the turf and vegetation are stressed. Families are encouraged to remove any plants or vegetation they wish to preserve until the irrigation system is operational. Crews will try to minimize disruption to visitation and operations at Linn Grove.

Please check this webpage for ongoing updates on the project.
