Water Conservation

The City of Greeley is proud to have a long history of water stewardship here in northern Colorado. Since 1907, we’ve provided safe, high-quality water supplies for our residents while ensuring a reliable supply for the future. One of the many ways we’re safeguarding your water supply is through water conservation. In fact, Greeley offers one of the most robust water conservation programs in Colorado.

With just over 13 inches of rainfall per year, Greeley is considered a semi-arid climate. This means local water supplies are scarce and must be used very wisely. To help customers save water indoors as well as outdoors, Greeley provides a wide range of water conservation programs and services that benefit a variety of water users.

The deadline for the 2016 water conservation rebate program is approaching. Products must be purchased between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2016, and all applications must be submitted before January 14, 2017. The rebate program will continue in 2017, for products purchased within that calendar year.  Only City of Greeley water customers are eligible to participate.

Toilets
As of June 30th, the City of Greeley is rebating only toilets that use 0.8 gallons per flush. A $50 dollar rebate is available and an additional $25 dollars will be added to the rebate for those who recycle toilets at the GROW Recycling Center, 1130 E 8th Street. In-store availability is often limited for these toilets, but special orders are usually an option.

High-Efficiency Clothes Washers
A $100 dollar rebate is offered on clothes washers that appear on a qualifying list.

Irrigation Rebates
Irrigation rebates on products such as smart irrigation controllers, pressure reducing valves, and new sprinkler heads are available after an irrigation audit.  Audits are conducted between April and October. Please visit greeleygov.com/audits to sign up for an irrigation audit in 2017.

Commercial Rebates
Water can be saved in commercial, industrial, multifamily, non-profit and governmental properties by installing water efficient appliances and fixtures. In addition to the rebate program, free indoor and outdoor audits are available to commercial properties and can help determine which products make sense for your organization. Large scale projects, with rebates totaling more than $1,000 should be pre-approved to make sure funds are available. Please call 970-336-4228 to make an audit appointment or to get a project pre-approved.

For 10 years, the City of Greeley has offered water conservation rebates. In 2016, the efficiency of products eligible for rebates have increased. This is due to the State of Colorado setting higher efficiency standards for plumbing fixtures in September 2016.  A complete list of program rules and application materials, are at greeleygov.com/rebates.
