This year with the
Water Budget in place for single-family residential house, we are allowing the homeowners to choose which days to water rather than following the
days of the week watering schedule. This allows people to watch the sky and if they think it might rain, they can wait and see. In years past people said I know it might rain but if it doesn’t, I have to wait 2-3 more days to water. There is still no watering between noon and 5 p.m. Anyone not on the water budget must still follow the watering restrictions including multifamily and all commercial or businesses.
People putting in a new lawn must still get a lawn watering variance to water more. If you properly prepare your soil with compost and rototill it in, you will be given a bigger water budget to get it established.

This is a strategy where instead of watering one long cycle, you divide into 2 or 3 shorter cycles. For example, if you water your spray heads 15 minutes, use three start times of 4-5 minutes each. You may find that you can shave off a couple minutes and have a healthier, better-looking lawn with no runoff. The key to this is to cycle the sprinkler zone and then have a soak time in between of 45-60 minutes. We see a lot of customers who do one in the morning and one in the evening and that is ineffective.
