10th Street Project Starts May 6

10th-Street

Work begins Monday, May 6 to reconstruct and improve two stretches of 10th Street — from 30th Avenue to 35th Avenue and then 23rd Avenue to 27th Avenue.

Construction begins at the west end of the project, between 35th and 32nd avenues, and will work east during the projected six-month schedule. Initially, work will start on the north side of the road. Lane and road closures will move with construction and signs will inform drivers about project information and detours as needed.

Local, emergency and business access will remain open during all construction. However, 10th Street improvements will cause delays and may necessitate alternate access to some properties. Officials recommend finding alternate routes to avoid construction when possible.

The city improved the first stretch of the project, 10th Street between 27th and 30th avenues, in 2015. That work removed and replaced the old asphalt and concrete pavement, improved the roadway, and installed new curbs, gutters, medians, sidewalks, and landscaping.
