Household Occupancy Standards Virtual Open House
City of Greeley officials are considering changing the number of unrelated adults that may live in a single-family house.
In most areas, the city currently allows no more than two unrelated individuals to live in a single household. Greeley's Community Development Department scheduled a virtual open house on this topic for 6 p.m. March 1. This Q&A session takes place over Zoom. Register in advance for this webinar at bit.ly/GreeleyOccupancy.
The virtual open house will present background information on the topic, discuss the reasons for reevaluating the standards, and outline potential changes.
Greeley City Council directed staff and the planning commission to gather more resident opinions on the household occupancy issue at the Feb. 9 work session. Council specifically wanted to explore basing the number of unrelated individuals allowed to share a house on the number of bedrooms in a single-family residence.
In addition to the virtual open house, two short surveys are available on the city's website. Comments can be made in the survey or emailed to developmentcodeupdate@greeleygov.com.Visit the household occupancy website, greeleygov.com/HOS, to take the surveys and get more information.
City officials are also updating the overall Development Code to meet the citizens, businesses, and visitors' current and future needs. The code update process includes more than just household occupancy. More information is available at
