Did you go over your water budget this summer?  The city designed the budget to give you enough water when you need it to do all you need to do:  drink, cook, bathe, laundry, and maintain your landscape plus a little extra for a buffer. If you went over more than one month, now is the time to reassess your habits and water using equipment if you exceeded your budget. The city of Greeley has programs to help you achieve your goal of getting more efficient.  

Things to check off your list:

• Is you Water Budget profile correct?
  • Number of people per household
  • Irrigable area (area that could be landscaped) of your property
• Schedule an audit for indoor over the winter and outdoor next spring.
• Check for leaks.
• Replace that old toilet.
• Replace top loading washing machines with He washers.
• Replace showerheads with WaterSense labeled ones.
• Replace faucet aerators.
• Install a smart controller.
• Install a rain sensor on your sprinkler system.
• Consider replacing some lawn with Xeric plantings.
• Attend Landscape Lectures to find out more about sustainable plantings.
• Visit the city’s Xeriscape garden at 2503 Reservoir Road for ideas and inspiration.
• Core aerate your lawn this fall and top-dress it with compost.

• Sign up for the conservation monthly newsletter to be in the know on events.
• Check out our plant database to find the right plant for the right place.
