Announcements: The 2013 Water Conservation Rebate Program Can Help You Save Water

The 2013 Water Conservation Rebate Program Can Help You Save Water

Greeley offers water conservation rebates to residential and commercial water customers. The purpose of rebates is to promote the purchase and proper installation of water-saving products to improve water efficiency. The City of Greeley is now rebating products purchased in 2013.

The items rebated for indoor use include low-flow toilets, high-efficiency clothes washers, and a variety of products for commercial customers. Complete details on the program and application materials are available at Outdoor rebates for sprinkler system components are also available after customers receive an irrigation audit.  Sign up now to receive an audit early in the watering season.

The most significant change this year is for toilet rebates. A $25 rebate will be available for toilets that use 1.28 gallons per flush (gpf), or dual flush models. Toilets are becoming more efficient; for toilets that use 0.8 gallons per flush, customers will receive a $50 rebate. This year, on both types of toilets, there will also be an additional rebate of $25 if the toilet is recycled. When applying for the rebate in person, bring the toilet, with all metal or plastic parts removed, to 1100 10th Street.

The US Environmental Protection Agency estimates that a family of four will, on average, save more than $90 per year in reduced water utility bills by replacing their home's older toilets with WaterSense labeled models, and $2,000 over the lifetime of the toilets. Look for the EPA WaterSense label when purchasing a low-water use and high-performance toilet.
