Code compliance

Well-maintained neighborhoods are essential to healthy communities. Our inspectors enforce municipal code rules related to zoning, health and safety, sanitation, parking and vehicles, as well as environmental concerns.

Winter Weather Reminder

Remember, city codes require that snow and ice be removed from all public sidewalks within 24 hours after the end of a winter storm. This is important so pedestrians, especially school children and the physically-challenged may safely use the walkways.

As you're shoveling, please remember that “it is unlawful for any person to drag, shovel or deposit any snow that has been removed from private property upon any street, gutter or sidewalk or upon any other public ground or place in the City (GMC 13.12.020)”.

For additional information, please see our press release.

Thank you!
