Aven's Village at Island Grove
Inclusive Playground

News and events

  • Construction has begun on Aven’s Village at Island Grove Regional Park. If the weather cooperates, the city’s newest and largest playground will open mid-October! In the meantime, please respect the construction fence and stay out of the area. Although there isn’t a date scheduled for the ground breaking, here is a rendering for the playground (tap to enlarge):

What is Aven's Village?

In 2012, the Chambers family and various organizations, businesses and residents partnered with the City of Greeley to support of Greeley to support, develop, and finance a universally accessible playground in Island Grove Regional Park. Shane’s Inspiration, a non-profit company that supports projects for children with disabilities, helped conceptualize the playground. Aven Mondy, a local youth who has cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair, was chosen as the playground’s namesake.

Once complete, Aven’s Village will channel the “Old West” history of Island Grove Regional Park into a safe and user-accessible playground where people of all ages and abilities can exercise mental, physical, and social skills.

In addition to the City of Greeley, the playground’s major sponsors include the ARC of Weld County, The Community Foundation, the Community Service Charitable Foundation, Inc., the Greeley Blues Jam, Security Service Federal Credit union, and the Greeley Stampede.
