City of Greeley officials have decided to re-open its three outdoor skateparks but remind residents to follow CDC-recommended precautions and State of Colorado Safer at Home orders while at play.
Effective immediately, all wheeled sports enthusiasts can return to the street-style plaza at 3rd Street and 11th Avenue, Peak View Skatepark at 56th Avenue and 13th Street, or Centennial Skatepark at 23rd Avenue and 22nd Street during regular park hours from 5:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m.
“We are excited to open one of our more popular amenities around the City,” said Culture, Parks and Recreation Director Andy McRoberts. “Our hope is that the kids and adults continue to be responsible and be safe so we can keep the skateparks open.”
The city reminds everyone that current state and CDC-recommended hygiene and social distancing still apply at the skateparks to protect yourself and those around you, including:
- Do not gather in groups of more than 10 people.
- Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet between you and others at all times.
- Be sure to frequently wash hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer.
- Wear a mask whether you have COVID-19 symptoms or not to protect others.
Park restrooms are closed at this time. Residents need to come prepared with adequate drinking water and their own hand sanitizer. A port-a-let is available, however, it is only cleaned and sanitized by staff one time per day. Smoking and/or vaping at the skatepark is prohibited.
All City of Greeley playgrounds, restrooms, drinking fountains, and controlled athletic fields remain closed at this time to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Park equipment and facilities – including seating and picnic areas – are not sanitized. All non-emergency city facilities including the Family FunPlex, Greeley Recreation Center, Greeley History Museum, Centennial Village, and the Union Colony Civic Center at closed through June 2, 2020.
We encourage people to still enjoy Greeley’s general park areas, trails, trailheads and the outdoors.
City officials strongly encourage community members to follow state agency guidance and practice social distancing, wearing cloth masks, and other CDC-recommended precautions.
