Following guidance from state public health officials, the City of Greeley will open Centennial Pool and the Island Grove Splash Park on Saturday, June 20 with limited hours and restrictions due to COVID-19.

Greeley officials believe with the right procedures, the community can start using these recreation resources.

To accomplish this, Centennial Pool will open for limited public swim times. Each of the two-to-three swim times a day will limit attendance to a maximum of 50 people at a time. These public swim times require advance sign-up for two-hour blocks of time to help regulate the number of guests in the facilities at one time – in accordance with state regulation. City staff will clean the facility between swim sessions. Additionally, reservations can be made for lap swim. Lap swim times limit reservations to six people per each one-hour time slot.

To reserve a swim time or lap swim, visitors need to sign-up at Swimmers can reserve public swim and lap time up to one week in advance. Each public swim sign-up can included up to six people per reservation and groups must pay when that arrive at Centennial Pool. Each individual must check in with guest services staff to verify their reservation and pay. All visitors must leave at the end of their swim time and will need to pay the daily admission fee again if they register and attend another public swim period again that same day. Officials encourage swimmers to shower and dress in appropriate swim attire before they arrive. Swimmers should also bring adequate water and hand sanitizer.

Outside of public swim sessions, Centennial Pool will allow for swim club rentals and limited daily swim lessons.

Island Grove Splash Park, 304 N. 14th Ave., will open June 20 from noon-4 p.m. daily, however, city staff do not sanitize equipment and facilities – including seating and picnic areas.

Anyone with COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms — a fever, cough, or shortness of breath — should not enter city facilities including Centennial Pool.

Officials encourage people to enjoy Greeley’s general park areas, trails, trailheads and the outdoors as a part of Safer at Home and in the Vast, Great Outdoors while following state and federal guidance by wearing cloth masks, practicing social distancing of no more than 10 people at a time, and other CDC-recommended precautions.
