On Wednesday, July 22, the Greeley Blues Jam Committee presented a check for $5,000 toward the Aven’s Village playground project.
Every year the Greeley Blues Jam Committee picks a different project and makes a contribution.
“We thought it was a natural decision to donate to Aven’s Village this year since it’s going to be a part of the Island Grove community and that’s where we hold our annual Greeley Blues Jam,” said Pam Bricker, Greeley Blues Jam event chairperson. “More importantly, we wanted to impact an area that could have an extensive positive impact on children—and our community in general—for a really long time.”
Funding will go toward the construction of an all-inclusive, universally accessible playground that includes canopy swings, sensory garden and maze, and Braille and large print throughout. The playground will be wheelchair accessible and will replace the current playground which is over twenty years old. The playground is in its planning stages with a request for proposal on the playground’s construction going out this fall and construction anticipated for the spring of 2016.
