Shortly after Greeley Stampede organizers announced their 2015 lineup, the group began talking to the City of Greeley Parks Division about Aven’s Village, the universal playground slated to start construction at Island Grove Regional Park later this year. On Monday, Stampede organizers officially announced a $75,000 donation that will help fund the playground’s construction.

“The inclusive playground will be a great addition, not only for Greeley, but for the entire Northern Colorado region,” said Stampede General Manager Justin Watada. “The Greeley Stampede is an event for the whole family and this project exemplifies family entertainment for all to enjoy.”

According to Stampede General Chairman Patty Gates, “The Greeley Stampede, as a member of the Greeley community, is proud to help support Aven’s Village, the first universally accessible playground in this part of Northern Colorado, where kids and adults of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can play together.”

“This is our largest private donation to date and we are incredibly appreciative of the Greeley Stampede and their generous support of the Aven’s Village project,” said Culture, Parks and Recreation Director Andy McRoberts. “The overall cost of the project is $1.2 million, and we are getting closer and closer to reaching our funding goal.”

The 93rd Annual Greeley Stampede takes place June 25 through July 5, and construction on the new playground will begin later this year. For more information about the Greeley Stampede, visit For more information about Aven’s Village, visit
