Aven’s Village, an all-inclusive playground project underway at Island Grove Regional Park, has received a $10,000 donation from Security Service Federal Credit Union’s charitable foundation to help the fundraising efforts of the project.  Rev. Arron Chambers in partnership with Shanes’ Inspiration and the City of Greeley Culture, Parks, and Recreation staff received the check from Rick Weber, SVP Mountain Region, Member Service, Hunter Doyle, Greeley Branch Manager, Laura McFadden, AVP Northern Colorado, Member Service and Amy Matisek, Branch Marketing and Community Relations Manager.

The vision of Aven’s Village is to build an inclusive playground at Island Grove where children of all abilities can play together without barriers. “Generous donations like the one we received from Security Service Federal Credit Union is making this dream become a reality,” stated Andy McRoberts, Director of Culture, Parks and Recreation for the City of Greeley. “We are thrilled that so many local organizations and businesses have stepped up to help fund Aven’s Village.” Shane’s Inspiration (a non-profit organization devoted to creating inclusive playgrounds and programs that unite children of all abilities), is partnering with the fundraising team help them reach their goals. McRoberts has also applied for grant funding to assist with the financial needs to make this inclusive park come to fruition, however, to meet all their goals additional funding and resources are needed. An accessible park in the Greeley community would mean that children with disabilities would be able to play with their family and friends without limitations, something that is vital to any community.
