Annual Fishing Derby Coming in June

FD16
The fish are biting, so you won’t want to miss the City of Greeley’s Culture, Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Fishing Derby, sponsored in part by Envirotech. This year’s event will be held Saturday, June 2 from 8 a.m. until noon at Sanborn Park, located at 28th Avenue and 20th Street in Greeley.

Fishing licenses are not required as this day begins the state’s Free Fishing Weekend.

Bring your own fishing pole and tackle and be prepared to land the big one. This free event is a great opportunity for an outdoor adventure for the whole family.

Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. for some phenomenal prizes, which will be announced from the Youth Enrichment staff tent by the playground at the park; there will be giveaways every 15 to 20 minutes.

The Colorado Division of Wildlife will be stocking the lake with fresh trout in advance, so there will be ample fish for everyone. For more information, contact the Rodarte Community Center at 970-350-9430 or visit GreeleyRec.com and click on the calendar for details.
