Application Process Announced for Vacant Ward II Council Seat

Greeley City Councilmember Randy Sleight has resigned his Ward II Council position due to an upcoming move of his personal residence from Greeley to a location in Weld County outside the Greeley city limits.
The City Council will select a replacement to fill the position. That appointment will be valid until the term expires in November of this year. City Council will consider applications received by 5 p.m. on July 28. The process includes applicant interviews at the August 1 Council meeting.
To be qualified to apply for this Ward II position, an individual must be:
- A Citizen of the United States
- A resident of Greeley one year immediately prior to the appointment (and a resident of Ward II at least 90 days prior to the appointment)
- At least 21 years of age
- Holding no other elective office
- Have no felony convictions
Applications and deadline: The Council appointment application is available online at greeleygov.com/government/cc/elections. An application can also be picked up at the City Clerk’s Office, located in City Hall at 1000 10th Street between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Submission deadline is July 28, 2017 and applications must be received at the Clerk’s Office, located at City Hall, no later than 5 p.m. on July 28.
The entire process for choosing a replacement will be accomplished by mid-August. When the schedule is finalized for applicant interviews, Council deliberations and the installation ceremony, that schedule of public meetings will be announced. Meetings will also be broadcast live on the City’s Cable TV channel GTV8 via Comcast and streamed live and on-demand at greeleygov.com/gtv8.
