The Union Colony Civic Center, 701 10th Ave., will host an iconic and life-changing musical experience led by one of history’s most popular jazz vocalists, Bobby McFerrin on Friday, September 28, at 7:30 p.m.
Bobby McFerrin, winner of ten Grammys and creator of the number one global hit “Don’t Worry Be Happy”, continues to explore uncharted musical territory in “Bobby McFerrin: circlesongs” with his new group Gimme5, four virtuosic vocal improvisers who have been singing with him for decades in Voicestra. They will invite you to sing along and join in on a spontaneous adventure fueled by jazz, pop, R&B, classical and world music—or, more accurately, out-of-this-world music—all rolled into one. "Bobby McFerrin's greatest gift to his audience may be changing them from spectators into celebrants," says the Los Angeles Times, "transforming a concert hall into a playground, a village center, a joyous space."
Celebrate the UCCC’s 30th Anniversary at 6:30 p.m. This free celebration lets the community reminisce about its favorite moments from the last 30 years. Following the ticketed performance, a champagne toast will close this special evening.
