The Charlie and Laura Archibeque Park’s playground replacement, 1120 4th Avenue, is now open for the enjoyment of kids of all ages. The old Sunrise Park, renamed and dedicated in August 2017 in memory of City Council member Charlie Archibeque and his wife Laura, underwent multiple stages of renovation this summer.

In early April, the demolition of existing park facilities took place along with the replacement of the existing bathroom, a new and improved shelter and concrete pad. Late in the summer, the Splash pad was closed for renovations followed by a new irrigation system and a total playground replacement.

“I am really excited to see the entire project come to an end so that the park can be turned back over to the residents. The playground colors, the new shelter and bathrooms, and irrigation system will bring the Sunrise community a fun place to gather for years to come” commented Sarah Boyd, City of Greeley Parks Planner. “Spring will bring reseeding of the entire park but impact is anticipated to be minimal,” concluded Boyd.
