City of Greeley Clarifies Immigration Policy, Highlights Community Resources
GREELEY, Colo. — In response to growing community concerns about the new Executive Order on Immigration, the City of Greeley reaffirms its commitment to public safety for all community members.
The Greeley Police Department emphasized that immigration status does not affect their response to calls for assistance. Services provided by the city — fire, emergency services, and homeless solutions support — protect our city and will continue to be provided to all community members.
Mayor Gates previously stated that the focus remains on maintaining public safety, and Greeley Police will lawfully respect federal law enforcement. This does not mean the City of Greeley or Greeley Police don’t recognize the impact it has on the community.
City Manager Raymond Lee said administrators are working to understand new Federal directives while maintaining city services.
"We know our community is confused and concerned," Lee said. "We're committed to keeping our city moving forward as we determine any required next steps."
While the City of Greeley does not directly provide immigration services, several local organizations offer assistance and resources:
- Immigrant and Refugee Center of Northern Colorado (IRCNOCO)
- Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMIAN)
- Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains
- Immigrant Hope Greeley
These organizations provide various services, including legal assistance, education, and community support.
