Fishing Derby Returns to Sanborn Park June 5

The City of Greeley’s Fishing Derby returns 8 a.m. – noon, Saturday, June 5. Bring a fishing pole and tackle and join in the fun at Sanborn Park, 2031 28th Ave.

Open to everyone ages five and older, registration for this free event begins at 7:30 a.m. in the park at the Greeley Recreation tent near the playground. Arrive early for some fun giveaways. City staff will award prizes every half hour throughout the event.

“The derby is an awesome way to teach kids about fishing and the fun of being outdoors,” said Greeley Recreation Coordinator Dominique Padilla. 

This a positive family activity promotes friendly competition. 

The event does not require fishing licenses to participate. Colorado Parks and Wildlife has designated June 5 and 6 Free Fishing Weekend throughout the state of Colorado.

The City of Greeley, Envirotech, and the Colorado Division of Wildlife sponsor this event.
