Greeley Multicultural Festival
On October 20, attend the 2nd Annual Greeley Multicultural Festival. The Saturday afternoon event begins at 11 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m. All ages are welcomed and encouraged to participate in this fun and free festival. The event takes place at Zoe’s Café and Events, 715 10th Street.
Music and Performances
There will be performances from 30 different cultures, from all over the world. The Greeley Multicultural Festival culminates with the finale and premiere of two new pieces of music inspired by the ideas of bringing different cultures together. The composers, Eric Alexander, and Narongrit Dhamabutra have both written pieces that combine a traditional western orchestra with instruments and sounds from other cultures. It will be conducted by the Director of Music for the University of Northern Colorado.
Food and Activities
Greeley Multicultural Festival will also delight your taste buds with food samples from around the world. Stop by food trucks outside the venue. Or try a free selection of multi-ethnic cuisine. There are wonderful opportunities for kids and participants to create their own free craft items from different cultures at our booths. In addition, there will be local artisans selling their handmade items.
Josh “Flo” Floryance is the founder of the Greeley Multicultural Festival, for him, it is a very personal endeavor, “being adopted, I’ve always cherished learning about different cultures. My older sister is Vietnamese, my younger one African American and many of my friends are from various cultures. I wanted to put an event together that everyone can feel welcomed, and we can celebrate our differences and learn more about the unique diversity we have the honor of experiencing every day in our community of Greeley.”
The major sponsors include Zoe’s Cafe & Events, JBS and United Food and Commercial Workers International Union: Local 7, University of Northern Colorado, and United Healthcare. Other sponsors include Sears Real Estate, Country Financial, Bohemian Foundation, City of Greeley, New American Funding, Visit Greeley, and the Greeley Creative District.
