Greeley’s Landscape Lecture series will move to an online-only format via a Zoom webinar through June. City of Greeley officials have monitored the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation, and the health and safety of the community are paramount. Presenting the lectures through an online-only format will help limit contact and exposure. The webinars are live and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.
The lecture series’ next event, Horticulture for Western Gardens, starts at 6:30 p.m. May 13. Annie Barrow, manager of horticulture outreach programs at Denver Botanic Gardens, will present water-wise landscaping for western regions. Her lectures focus on plant selection, planting design, and best practices. Join us for Become a Habitat Hero: Gardening for the Birds at 6:30 p.m. May 20. Jamie Weiss, Habitat Hero Coordinator at Audubon Rockies, leads this session. One of the biggest bird conservation threats is habitat loss. To address this, our Habitat Hero program provides people, businesses, and cities with the resources to create bird habitat in their communities. At 6:30 p.m. on June 17, the topic is Succession Planting to Support Pollinators. Ross Shrigley, the Executive Director of Plant Select, is the presenter for this landscape lecture. A pollinator garden is an inviting place for people and wildlife and creates a positive impact on the environment. Make your yard a delightful place for bumblebees, hummingbirds, and butterflies all season long. Perennials have different bloom periods, with some blooming early in the spring and other blooming in mid- or late summer.
