June and July Landscape Lectures
Learn how to seed a lawn with native grasses that conserve are adapted to the local environment, at this month’s Landscape Lecture Series.
Greeley’s Water Conservation program offers a Landscape Lecture Series for residents. These workshops promote sustainable landscape practices in the community. Join us on the third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, in the new City Center South Building at 1001 11th Ave. – where all these events take place.
This next lecture will take place June 19 and cover seeding native grasses. Don Hijar, the owner and manager of the Pawnee Buttes Seed Company, will present on this topic. Native grasses are a good option because it is adapted to the local environment, saves water, reduces soil erosion, improves soil conditions, and provides a natural habitat for native wildlife.
On July 17, turf grass is the topic. Dr. Tony Koski, extension turfgrass specialist from Colorado State University will present on turfgrass best practices, problem-solving and more. Dr. Koski is the state expert from CSU on turf water use, soil amendments for water conservation, irrigation management, and much more.
