RC-PHOTO-300-DPI

The Union Colony Civic Center, 701 10th Ave., welcomes the Missoula Children’s Theatre in their presentation of “The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe Saturday,” January 11, 2020 at 2 and 6:30 p.m.

The Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for more than 40 years now from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,200 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors. A tour team arrives in a given town with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play. All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales with a twist.

This year’s production will be “The Amazing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe,” loosely inspired by Daniel Defoe’s novel, “Robinson Crusoe.” Purposely varying from the plot of Defoe’s novel, this performance tells the story of Robinson Crusoe’s island, years after his sole companion, a goat named Wilson, and Crusoe were shipwrecked. We find the island has surprisingly turned into a tourist destination centered around a lovable singing leopard, a tribe of natives known for their colorful coifs, Friday’s Seaside Resort and of course, the legend of Robinson Crusoe. The entire population of the island, includes a herd of goats, an all-animal band, Friday and his family and the inevitable hula-dancing chameleons, discover that their differences need not stand in the way of their friendships.
