New Manhole Installation Requires Temporary Intersection Closure at 5th Street and 5th Ave

City-Logo-for-News-Releases

In order to install a new manhole at the intersection of 5th Street and 5th Ave, work crews will temporarily close the intersection next week to drivers going East, North and South. Drivers going West can still go through the intersection.

The new manhole, once installed, will improve access for routine cleaning and maintenance of sewer lines in the area.

From Monday, May 23 through Friday, May 27, the intersection of 5th Street and 5th Ave will close, and signs will direct traffic to a detour on 8th Street. This closure will stay in place the entire week, 24 hours a day. During the temporary closure, construction crews will maintain local and business access.

Electronic message boards will also share up-to-date information about construction for residents and drivers throughout the area. This intersection closure will allow crews to get the work done quicker and in a safer environment for construction workers and community members as well.
