Prescribed Burns Scheduled This Spring in Two Natural Areas
City of Greeley Picking Up Operations After Postponing in the Fall
GREELEY, Colo. — The City of Greeley's Natural Areas & Trails Division and Greeley Fire Department are partnering with the Ember Alliance. Together they will conduct a prescribed burn at Signature Bluffs Natural Area and the Poudre Learning Center this spring. The burn window is March 31-April 11. Exact dates will be posted to Greeley Fire and City of Greeley social media channels.
Public safety is the number one priority when planning and conducting prescribed burns. Greeley firefighters and the Ember Alliance will conduct the burn. They will have the oversight of several local and state fire agencies. The exact date will be determined based on weather conditions and the availability of staff and equipment.
Prescribed fire smoke may affect a person's health. For more information, visit the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment website. For more information about the City of Greeley’s prescribed burn program, visit greeleygov.com/natural-areas.
Prescribed Burn Information Session
In September 2024, the city along with Ember Alliance hosted an informational session. The public learned more about prescribed burns for wildfire mitigation and natural resource management. A recording of this session will be available on the city’s YouTube channel in the coming weeks.
