The Union Colony Civic Center, 701 10^th Ave., welcomes the roosters, or rather the men of East Cornucopia Lutheran Church, in “Rise Up, O Men: Church Basement Ladies,” showing Sunday, March 17, at 2 p.m. Audience members will split their sides with laughter as they take a gander into the lives of rural Norwegian Lutherans.

Inspired by the bestselling book “Growing up Lutheran” and originally produced by Troupe America Inc., the original musical comedy, “The Church Basement Ladies,” opened at the Plymouth Playhouse in Minneapolis in 2005. Five sequels have expanded the universe of these beloved characters, making the musical the most successful show in the production company’s 30-year history.

In the sixth chapter of this story, in “Rise Up, O Men,” audience members will fall in love all over again with the fellas of the “Church Basement Ladies” series. Audience members will glean the perspective from the men of the church, where they discuss the finer points of their scrap lumber piles and where they “unintentionally” disrupt the order of the kitchen. But that’s what happens when you let the rooster in the hen house.
