Congressman Cory Gardner to meet with local officials and tour Hewlett Gulch burn area by helicopter at Milton Seaman Reservoir

WHEN:      Friday, July 27, 2012

WHERE:    Milton Seaman Reservoir

WHAT: Congressman Cory Gardner will meet with Greeley officials, staff and media at Milton Seaman Reservoir to view and gather information regarding the Hewlett Gulch fire mitigation now underway.

Joining him will be Pamela Shaddock, Regional Director to US Senator Mark Udall, and representatives from National Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), whose grant of $500,000 greatly assisted Greeley in its mitigation of the fire damage surrounding the Milton Seaman Reservoir.

WHY: The dropping of straw and wood mulch by helicopter in the burn area surrounding Milton Seaman Reservoir was done quickly and will greatly help to prevent ash and debris from flowing into the reservoir during rain or snow melt. Federal funds assisted with this project and more will be needed for the High Park fire.  It is critical that our federal elected officials understand the process, the timeline and the impact on the citizens of Northern Colorado.
