File the appropriate forms for the type of legal structure you have. There is generally a $50.00 fee to register your business with the State.
EIN stands for Employer Identification Number, and is issued by the IRS. The IRS requires almost all businesses have an EIN. They are free and easy to get.
The State of Colorado requires you to set up a “Withholding Tax Account” if you withhold Colorado income tax on behalf of your employees or on behalf of individuals to whom you make income payments.

The State of Colorado does not have a “general business license.” However, they do have many different types of occupational licenses that may be required for your business.

A state license alone does not allow you to operate everywhere in the state. Colorado is a “home-rule” state, which means that municipalities are allowed to set their own licensing requirements for businesses.
