In working with residents and members of our local Complete Count Committee, we found that representation is important to our local residents, and that simply using the word "counting" may make our residents feel like numbers, rather than residents of our community that matter. 

The City of Greeley is working with volunteers from local businesses and nonprofits, and fellow municipalities to build a homegrown 2020 Census effort. The goal of this community-led campaign is to inform our residents about the importance of the census in local affairs, while working to achieve a complete and accurate count of all persons in our community in April of 2020. 

We all have questions about the 2020 Census, one of them may be: What will I be asked on the Census?, and the response varies depending on how you plan to complete the the Census (online, over the phone, or in person). Greeley Central High School Student, Lexee Sherman Sutton is working with Greeley Public Works Stormwater staff on a Caring for Our Watersheds project to keep our local waterways clean. 

A big shout out to the Greeley Stampede for winning “Event of the Year” at the 3rd annual Rocky Mountain Country Music Awards held at the Union Colony Civic Center.

Providence Infrastructure Consultants and the City of Greeley have been presented with a 2019 Engineering Excellence Award by the Colorado Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies for their work on the 60-inch Bellvue water transmission pipeline.

In early September, the Forestry, Natural Areas and Trails program received two awards, the Columbine Award from Colorado Parks and Recreation Association and the Blue Grama award from Colorado Open Space Alliance.

The weather is warming up and we can all spend more time outside! Many of us will be spending that time with furry friends, taking walks, playing fetch, and other fun games. But our canine companions can have a huge impact on our water quality.

The City’s Natural Areas and Trail program is working to manage natural areas in an environmentally friendly fashion. This spring, a small herd of miniature dairy cattle will be chomping down on weeds at JB Jones and Peak View parks.
