What is a sprinkler audit? And why would I want one?
Greeley’s water bill measures water in 1000s of gallons, we talk about precipitation and application rate in inches of water, and then the sprinkler clock is set in minutes. It can be confusing decoding the language along with a complicated sprinkler clock. A sprinkler audit makes it easy for you as we simplify the lingo and do the math for you.
A sprinkler audit is a free service to Greeley water customers to determine how uniformly the system applies water to your lawn. The auditor will come out and run a series of test on the system.
From these tests, they do calculations to determine how uniform your system applies water and develops a customized schedule based on the findings. Additionally, once you have an audit, you will be eligible for
sprinkler rebates when you follow the auditor’s recommendations.
Outdoor water use, mostly lawn watering accounts for about 55 percent of Greeley’s water use. It is estimated that 25 percent of the water is wasted by inefficient irrigation. This can be from overwatering, using an inefficient system, or watering at the wrong time. In addition to saving water, customers should see a lower water bill and a healthier lawn, if they follow the recommendations given after the sprinkler system audit.
