Beginning Oct. 15, Greeley’s Bellvue Water Treatment Plant will shut down for approximately two weeks to accommodate construction. Starting Oct. 18, Greeley residents will receive water treated exclusively from the Boyd Lake Water Treatment Plant. As a result, residents might notice a slight difference in the taste and characteristics of water provided by the City of Greeley. The Bellvue Water Treatment Plant needs construction and maintenance work that requires the plant to temporarily shut down in order to complete the work.

Currently, Greeley receives the majority of drinking water from the Bellvue Water Treatment Plant that treats water from the Poudre River. During the shutdown, Greeley residents will receive water from the City’s Boyd Lake Treatment Plant in Loveland. The Boyd Lake facility utilizes source water from Boyd Lake and Lake Loveland.  While all water delivered from either water treatment plant will consistently meet water quality standards, the taste of Boyd Lake and the Poudre River are different.

Work at the Bellvue Water Treatment Plant began last year with infrastructure upgrades. The current closure accommodates the replacement of systems that existed for more than 50 years. This project will increase operational efficiency, delivery capacity and reduce operational costs. The Bellvue Water Treatment Plant has provided clean water to Greeley for more than 110-years. Upon completion, the Bellvue Water Treatment Plant will again offer high-quality water to customers.
