Projects and Planning Overview
Water and Wastewater Infrastructure:
Essential to Our Quality of Life
Greeley continues to build on our legacy of investing in existing and new infrastructure. These investments help us provide our community with safe, reliable, and great-tasting water now and in the future. The focus of every project, whether it is system upgrades or complying with new regulations, is to support public health and quality of life for our customers.
Greeley Water Projects
New Meters
We are underway on an effort to replace the city’s nearly 29,500 aging and failing water meters with newer ones for better customer service, faster access to water usage data, and improved leak alert tools.
Lead Protection
We are working with customers with older homes to help them replace any of their water service that are found to contain lead.
Bellvue Pipeline Project
We are building a 29-mile-long, 60-inch pipeline to transport additional drinking water from the Bellvue Water Treatment Plant to Greeley residents.
Wildfire Recovery
We have and continue to work with the Coalition for the Poudre River Watershed and other water districts in Northern Colorado to mitigate the devastating effects of the Cameron Peak wildfire in Poudre Canyon.
Terry Ranch Project
We are working to develop underground water storage in deep aquifers to provide drought-proof, cost-effective supplies and additional storage for our growing city.
Windy Gap/Chimney Hollow Reservoir Project
We are working with five other Front Range communities to provide additional storage of Greeley CBT water rights with the construction of a diversion dam on the Colorado River, a 445-acre-foot reservoir (Chimney Hollow), a pumping plant and a six-mile pipeline to Lake Granby.
Greeley Wastewater Projects
Wastewater Facility Improvements
We are underway on $35.5 million in facility improvements to meet State regulations by reducing nitrogen and phosphorus entering the Cache La Poudre River and prevent algae from forming downstream.
